Findex and Crowe Horwath are proud to announce that Managing Partner Brendan Worrall has been appointed as Queensland’s Auditor-General.
Mr Worrall was selected for the prestigious role following a national search and merit-based recruitment process by the Queensland Government. The position will see him become the Chief Executive Officer for the Queensland Audit Office, overseeing more than 100 staff.
Mr Worrall is currently the Managing Partner for Audit and Assurance across Australia and New Zealand at Crowe Horwath.
“It is an honour to be appointed to the role of Auditor-General. I very much look forward to bringing to the role both my public practice and public sector leadership experience to help influence the continuous improvement of public sector agency performance in Queensland” said Mr Worrall.
Mr Worrall will officially take up his new position in early July for a seven year term, which follows a successful decade-long journey working with the Crowe Horwath team.
“During my 10 years with Crowe Horwath, I have been very fortunate to have been provided with excellent leadership opportunities and support from the leadership team for a variety of roles, and I thank management for their support.”
The Auditor-General is an independent officer of the Queensland Parliament, appointed to provide assurance to the Queensland Parliament and the community on the presentation of financial and performance audit of public sector entities.
“Brendan has been a key influencer and an invaluable member of our team. While we are sad to see him go, his appointment as Auditor-General is testament to the quality of our leadership, and we wish him every success” said Tony Roussos, Chief Operations Officer at Findex.
Findex and Crowe Horwath are also pleased to reveal that David Munday, who is currently a Senior Partner and leads the Audit team in the company’s southern region, will step into Mr Worrall’s Managing Partner role in an acting capacity.
Mr Munday has been with Crowe Horwath for three and a half years, and carries more than 20 years’ experience in audit. He has the capabilities to keep driving success and growth across the business in this area, and will work closely with Mr Worrall over the next few months as part of this leadership transition.
